Dear Parents/Guardians/Caregivers,
This afternoon, at approximately 2:40 p.m. staff implemented a lockdown, following an external report of someone with a weapon in the building. Toronto Police Service immediately arrived to investigate.
The lockdown procedure included locking all exterior and interior doors and keeping students and staff in their immediate location and other secured areas. Following their investigation, Police confirmed that the report was unfounded, and there was no risk to the school. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 3:15 p.m., at which time students were dismissed.
We always want to take every precaution to ensure the safety of our students and staff. I would like to acknowledge our staff, students, and guests for their calm in following safety procedures today. We encourage students to report anything concerning to school staff or a trusted adult. We will continue to take any necessary steps to ensure our students and staff are safe.
We recognise that this incident may have had a significant impact on our students and staff and we want to reassure families that supports, including social workers will be available at the school tomorrow.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.
Sincerely,
Bryan
Wires
Principal
