Evacuation Letter
October 2, 2024
Dear Students and Parents/Guardians/Caregivers,
This afternoon, we were made aware of a possible threat against the school from an anonymous phone call. While there was no reason to believe that this threat was credible, we always take any threat against students, staff or our school very seriously. As soon as we received the call, we immediately contacted Toronto Police to investigate this matter and they quickly arrived at the school.
Out of an abundance of caution, police advised students and staff to evacuate the school building at 12:45 p.m.
At 2:05 p.m., following a thorough investigation and search of the school building, police confirmed that the threat was not credible and advised that students and staff could return into the building.
We want to take this opportunity to reassure you that our school remains safe. At Danforth, we have several safety initiatives, programs, and policies in place that contribute to a safe and caring school. We will take any necessary steps to ensure the safety of our students, and ask that students or parents do the same by alerting staff when there is a safety concern.
We would like to thank TPS for their quick response and staff who worked together to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Sincerely,
Bryan Wires,
Principal
